Tickled Pink! colour...colour...colour!

We have learned that there are only eleven basic colour words in the English language, and yet we know there are literally millions of colours. Computers can give us sixteen million but the human eye can distinguish more than any machine! After the basic eleven, we used ‘borrowed’ words, such as avocado - Erm, would that the flesh, or the skin, I wonder? And plum, is that deep purple kind....or green…..? Lol! - when we want to describe the myriad of shades, tones and tints.

Inevitably, this creates confusion in colour communication.
Haven't you ever thought…. "Do we all see colours the same?"
Well, who really knows?
The point is though, that in colour psychology it doesn’t seem to matter what we think we are looking at - the effect of colours on us is caused by their energy entering our bodies. In this way, colour blind people will still be sensitive to colour psychology!

So.... Let's have a look at....Pink!

Attributes:

Peace, love, friendship, compassion, relaxation. Gentle emotions and unions. Overcoming evil, honor, morality, friendship and success.

Characteristics:

People who love the colour pink either seek or already enjoy a peaceful state of grace or bliss. They smile constantly which can sometimes irk others who are not in the same space. These people try to see and bring out the best in others, truly loving everyone. If they don't believe someone is essentially good, then you can be sure there is a valid reason they would conclude this.

Pink people are very intelligent and contemplative. They study, analyze the best way to go about something before they take action. They may appear slow as a result, but are merely methodical in their thoughts and hard working.. Sometimes overly optimistic, these people tend to look younger than their years. They view the world in such a positive light it can be dazzling. Shy, they would like to be more active but fear precipitous action, choosing not to make mistakes because they do not wish to be judged unfairly by others. Humour is a tool pink people use to make others happy although they may not be raucous or ribald, instead possessing a dry wit.

***
Positive:
Physical tranquillity, nurture, warmth, femininity, love, sexuality, survival of the species.
Negative:
Inhibition, emotional claustrophobia, emasculation, physical weakness.

Being a tint of red, pink also affects us physically, but it soothes, rather than stimulates. (Interestingly, red is the only colour that has an entirely separate name for its tints. Tints of blue, green, yellow, etc. are simply called light blue, light green…etc.) Pink is a powerful colour, psychologically. It represents the feminine principle, and survival of the species; it is nurturing and physically soothing. Too much pink is physically draining and can be somewhat emasculating.
Put some pink in your life when you want:
calm feelings
to neutralize disorder
relaxation
acceptance, contentment
Ask anyone about Pink, and chances are they’ll agree it is the most gender specific colour. Pink represents femininity and has a gentle nature
Nothing wrong with that, eh?

Pink is associated with girlyness, cupcakes, sweets and bubble gum. It also symbolizes softness. Because it's so "feminine," use of pinks need to be well planned, yet it can be used effectively in scrapping ‘boys’ pages. I’ve seen many examples of this – and done it myself a couple of times with pleasing results.
Get out there Gals... and Think Pink!
