Some people never grow up....

... and I'm one of them, I might as well just admit it.

I had a totally fab weekend celebrating my birthday, except for one awful thing which happened, but I'll get to that in a minute. I was off work from Wednesday, so it's been lovely to have had a few days at home doing very little really - and I'm still off now, and tomorrow as well, as I sorta knew I'd need time to recover from it all lol.Call it intuition... ;-)

Friday night we opened the 2008 barbi season at Donna's house...

and typically went over the top, not getting to bed until twenty to three.... pretty daft really considering we had guests coming up on the Saturday, but there you go. No one in our family ever seems to know when it's time to stop dancing round the disco ball and turn the music off...

Saturday, my sis and bro in law arrived here about four and we immediately cracked the champagne open, and then spent a pleasant hour or so chatting over drinks and nibbles, before heading into town for an early dinner.
Then it was next door to the theatre to see a show which turned out to be so dire it was actually almost funny. It was truly shockingly bad, and without doubt the worst show I've ever seen... and we were wondering throughout the second half whether we should just up and leave when Carl let go a depth charge (like only he can...), which had the whole theatre in hysterics - even the girls on the stage were giggling.... and he drew some admiring glances from a few other men, who would probably have loved to show their appreciation in a similar way, if only they'd had the nerve... I swear we nearly died laughing. He's a nightmare and I can't trust him anywhere... tut tut tut... disgraceful man, what is he like...............??!!

Then back home where we fired up the chiminea and sat in the garden with drinks until the early hours. Seems like older never gets any wiser in my house....

And Donna came with the kids yesterday and I opened all my pressies with the fam before we went for a roast down the pub, and walked home in the sunshine, while my sis and bro in law set off for there little corner of the West Country.

So, on to my pressies!!

I got a Wii!!
Yay!!

I really wanted this - however, I now ache from head to foot and fear I may have permanently damaged my shoulder... perhaps I should leave the sports alone and stick with telly addicts for a while... but I'm blooming well having that keep fit thingy as soon as it comes down in price.

Also got a gorgeous new silver bag and belt for my holiday. Some money, vouchers for the theatre, amazon vouchers, games and controllers for the wii, Loads of lovely growing things like gorgeous pots with seeds etc for growing chillies and toms and delicious things on the windowsills, a dreams money pot, a beautiful breakfast set, all kinds of little bits and bobs, a bottle of perfume, and a fantastic thing which basically must have been made for me. It's an A4 notepad, with spaces for the lists of things I need to do and entries for everyday of the week.. IT'S SO ME!!!

I am a proverbial list maker... and of course my sister knows this lol! I think she'll have to get one for Jazz too now tho, as she now has envy, and she hasn't even seen it yet!

Later in the day we set up the wiiand played for hours and had such a laugh all round the room, and then Carlo cooked me a special dinner and we collapsed on the couch for a LOST marathon. I think it was 2am when we went to bed... I swear we are as mad as hatters, but it always seems like fun at the time. And don't tell me you don't do it too....

One terrible thing did happen though... on my birthday of all days.... my little bird died. My beautiful Sheila, my super modelle.... my gorgeous green and grey girlie... she died. We think Blood wing. It was a horrible shock, and we're so sorry for poor Bruce who's totally lost and keeps looking for her everywhere, and making an awful racket, because he seems to think we've taken her away from him, like we did when the baby budgies were here and we had some problems to sort out. At that time he and Sheila were inconsolable and quite frantic to be reunited... and it's so sad now because he was completely besotted with her and I guess he's feeling very very lonely and seems quite angry that she's gone.

So that's my post done and I'm pretty much caught up on my news. But oh, there is one other thing! We've booked our holiday! Yay!! We're heading back to Ibiza... and I cannot wait to get my toes in the sand! It's the first time ever that we've gone back to the same place 2 years running - just shows how much we loved it and how lovely a place it really is (as long as you go the right side of the island!! Lol!!)

Be happy blog buddies!

catch up

A couple of layouts to share:

These were done for It's a Creative World, and there are some easy guidelines for doodling yourself up some frames and embellies on the blog if you fancy having a go :-)

I received this blog award from two lovely ladies last week!

Thanks girls :-)

And then I was tagged by Lemon

1. If a movie was being made of your life who would you like to be cast to play yourself? And why?

Heaven knows... maybe some smiley girl next door type like Meg Ryan or Reece Witherspoon. Not Angelina Joely that's for sure!

2. You are spending a whole month on a desert island for charity and you have to choose your favourite celebrity to spend the first two weeks with & your least favourite celebrity to spend the second two weeks with, who would they be & why?

Ah... Captain Jack knows where the rum is so he'd be my ideal mate... I can't imagine having much fun with Russel Brand tho in the second half. I think I'd end up burying him in the sand up to his neck - Or perhaps head first, feet sticking out!

3. What are your three favourite crafting products?

Chalk inks, stamps and PPs.

4.If you could invent something to do anything what do you think it would be?

Def a time machine so that me and Carly could see history as it happened... it would have to be magic enough to keep us safe tho!

5. What are the last three books that you read?

Broken by Shy Keenan; The Unfortunates by Laurie Graham; This book will save your life, by A M Homes.

6. Qvc or create & Craft?
I don't know, we have neither.

7. Docrafts or Dovecraft or DCWV?
DCWV I guess

8. What is your claim to fame?
I don't have one, I'm almost certainly the least famous person you know.

Ok - it's my birthday weekend and I have visitors coming to help me have fun, so there probably won't be much blogging for a few days - too much partying and celebrating going on I hope! We have a barbie tonight at dd1's, champers, a meal out and the theatre tomorrow, and sunday lunch down the pub - so we've booked Monday and Tuesdays off to recover, lol!

Have a fabby weekend whatever you get up to, and if you can, raise a glass (or two) to me ;-)

hugs

Road Test Results

Along with many other crafters, I was recently invited to road test this EZ runner permanent tape by 3L

My totally honest review is below:

1. How often do you use adhesive?

I craft everyday and use many different adhesives

2. What is the main type of adhesive you use?

Really depends on what I'm working on but I regularly use Herma transfer dispensers, Zig glue pens, 3L mounting squares and any double sided craft tape.

3. What do you look for in an adhesive?

Price is a factor, but really I just want the best adhesive for the job. Nothing too fiddly either as I am a busy working Mum and don't have time to waste faffing around with things trying to get them to work.

4. How easy is the product to remove from its packaging?

A doddle - perfect for an impatient person like me!

5. Does the product appeal to you – i.e. does it look good?

Yes, I like this kind of dispenser and the bright colour means you don't lose it amongst the scraps and mess

6. How easy is the product to use?

Super smooth application even on curves etc. I also like that I can pull off tiny pieces if needs be to attach thin fiddly things. Very versatile.

7. How well does the product perform?

It does everything it says it will, cleanly and efficiently. You can't ask for more.

8. Do you like this product?

Yes, very much and I've used it before as a US DT I was on supplied them to us along with our other stash. My only complaint is that they are not re-fillable.

9. Do you consider it good value for money?

Well, there's no mess and no waste and it's a great little product but tbh, I think a fiver's quite steep for an adhesive.

10. Would you consider buying this product in the future?

Maybe, if it was less expensive

11. What would make you more likely to buy this product in the future?

Cheaper refills would crack it for me.

12. What would make you less likely to buy this product in the future?

Only the cost. I think it's a brilliant adhesive, but for me - a scrapper on a budget - I couldn't justify the price on a regular basis.

long time no blog

Been busy... and after busy, then a bit sad and a lot overwhelmed. I always feel the same after the family go home. The build up to them coming... the excitement and activity while they're here... the noise and clutter and frenetic buzz of the visit, then the quiet and calm after they've gone. To a lesser extent it's similar when we go there - except then I have the laundry to deal with on our return too... making everything that much worse, lol.

I'm getting over it now, but I've had a bad few days. A few can't be bothered days. A few I don't want to talk to anyone, or do anything days. Head in the sand time... you get the picture, I'm sure.

But I must get on. Rejoin my life, and put the visit into a box. Or I'll never get anywhere.

In summary, we had a nice few days. Did a lot of shopping - my DD could shop for England - and actually did while she was here. We went to the Farm for a picnic and had a few hours in the fresh air ( got some very cute pics of the kids there too ;-) ). Had some meals out, went bowling for my Grandson's birthday, had some super meals in, and takeaways, and drinks and nibbles and chat and all the usual family stuff... and then just like that - the 4 days had gone.

Anyway. This quiet life I'm left with here, is my real life, so I'd better get back in it. I don't really know why I don't want to scrap or play with paper, or blog, or do anything. I just know I don't. Maybe I'll rejuvenate over the weekend. I hope so - I hate feeling so lethargic and apathetic... where's the fun in that eh?

Sunday bloggin

Been a few days again, but I've been trying to sort this tip out. My knee is still giving me grief, so it's been hard getting down to do stuff on the floor, but i'm finally winning the battle I think. The mountain of carrier bags is gone and I can see the carpet again, though I had to get two more sets of plastic drawers to house everything.

My ribbons are now sorted by colour and take up several drawers :-)

And I've got lace, ricrac, fibres, twill and fabric strips individually bagged up too. It's not perfect, but considerably tidier than it was.

And my cardstock is sorted by colour too, and size. I usually buy packs of A4 black and white CS for matting, because it's cheaper and I use a lot of that. All the scraps of coloured card are in the folder there which has coloured inserts separating them.

There are now 5 sets of these drawers housing everything from papers, to stamps, stickers and rub-on's, ribbons, and mesh - and there's a a whole drawer full of that! I know... why?

I thinned out the mag stash, and got rid of loads. Probably should do away with the rest as I never look in them but I can't bear to... God knows why.
This little lot live at the new end of the desk. It's lovely to have everything close by when you're working...

Oooh... and what a bargain this compartment shelf thingy was! We spotted it in a charity shop while shopping for plassy drawers.... guess how much?

£5.99!! I was dead chuffed! It's perfect for all my bits and bobs. Shame they didn't have more of them...

So - I still have to sort some boxes of photos out and tidy them up, but I have to wait til Carlo can help with that because they're too big and heavy for me. Other than that, it's prettty much done. I know it's not posh or fancy but it's my little room and I love having my things all round me and having room to move again

:-)

Besides... my boy's got to sleep in here next week when Jazz comes with the kids, so I really had no choice but clear it up lol!

Today we awoke to snow.. but it's going away already. Got a few snowy pics in the garden earlier.. look at my old cat with flakes landing on him. He hates the snow but I was out there... so he had to be out there with me... daft old moggie.

Obviously haven't been making much this week, but I did manage one for Mojoholder

And that's about it!

Em presented me with an award, but I'll have to put it on later when I've had a think about who to award it to myself!

Free stash

Doing out your scraproom is like going shopping for free stash.

You find the very thing you need for that idea in your head... and it's free - and right there.

You find stuff you didn't know you had.

You find things you knew you had, but couldn't remember where you'd put them...

And better than that, you find things that you bought so long ago, that they've gone out of fashion.. and come back in again!!!!

Hee hee.. i've won the scrapbook lottery... ok, maybe in a very minor way.. but hell, it puts a bit of fun into all the hard work!
