Well, I'll be....

It seems there's a dare out there to mat a photo over a photo.... and I've actually seen it done this afternoon in an online gallery...

Shame it's not an original idea though - coz I made this layout:

For a Product Promo for Creative Scrapbooking at the begining of the year.... and posted it up on UKS and SP on the 1st April this year, which is quite a while ago now... eh?

Cool technique I admit - but not new - and it only came about by pure chance at all!

My editor asked me to send the image as a Jpeg to HiTi, who would print the photograph with writing on it, and send me a hard copy. Meanwhile would I make the LO as the deadline was looming and add the photo at the last minute before posting to them? So that's what I did - assuming the picture would come back as a 5x7 - however, it did not. The largest they could print with the writing on was a 4x6, and this was obviously far too small for the page I'd made.

Being the inventive scrapper that I am... (for inventive read seriously panicking!)... I played around a bit, and decided to mat the photo with the original bigger photo - and that was it.

That's how it came about...

So Er, now you know ;-)

Love the scraplift. I saw the original and its fab. I can see why you'd scraplift it.

Anonymous - i wish you'd left your name... be nice to be able to talk to you about this layout and particular technique...? I wonder why you assume this to be a lift? Have you any evidence of anything similar being posted before April the 1st this year...? Because i'd be more than amenable to giving credit to the designer if there was some way i might have seen her work and unconsciously copied her.... as it is i am considering taking this up with HiTi who commisioned it.

Please get in touch. I'd love to hear where, and when, you saw..... 'the original'..... :-)

Jake, the people who matter to you know that your LO is the original and not scraplifted. We also know that if you did ever "lift" an idea, you would be courteous enough to give credit to the designer. Please don't let this get you down

Fabulous page Jakey, and we also know you invented the large photo anchors/turns, that someone also copied later, then had the audacity to put a copyright on it!!! HUH
You dont need to scraplift you have original ideas of your own.

Jake hun
You are one of the most innovative scrappers I know. You come up with original ideas and this was one of them.
Well done you - and remember that when other people copy your ideas that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. (but they could ask if they scraplift! Like wot I did LOL )

It is a fantastic page Jakey - you always do such marvellous, unique work. It's a shame that a lesser scrapper is trying to steal your ideas and pass them off as her own. It's this sort of behaviour that really puts a damper on scrapping.
